What does MacDelta actually track?
Application installs, updates and removals; readable LaunchAgent and LaunchDaemon definitions; substantial storage changes in monitored folders; Trash size and observed emptying; Wi-Fi and network connection changes; Bluetooth radio and supported paired-device connections; sleep/wake, battery and Low Power Mode events; and observed macOS version or build changes.
Will I see anything on the first day?
During setup, MacDelta can import recent installation records provided by macOS. Events from before installation may be incomplete. They cannot reconstruct past storage usage, removed apps, or every earlier version. Your first capture establishes the starting point for future comparisons.
Does it need Full Disk Access?
Trash and some protected folders require Full Disk Access. MacDelta guides you through granting access to the installed app. You choose which folders to monitor, and incomplete access is explained rather than reported as a removal.
Does my history leave my Mac?
MacDelta keeps its observations locally. There is no account, cloud sync, advertising or telemetry in the app. It inspects metadata and relevant application/service configuration files, not the contents of your personal documents.
What are saved snapshots for?
Save a named moment before installing software or troubleshooting. Later, see retained events since that moment or compare its state with your latest observation. Snapshots store metadata; they are not file backups.
Does it record changes while the app is closed?
Closing the main window leaves MacDelta running in the menu bar. Quitting the app stops observation. Optional Open at Login helps it resume when you sign in. Changes that occur and reverse between captures may be missed.
Can it clean my disk or remove background items?
MacDelta observes and explains changes. It does not delete files, remove services, kill processes or optimize your Mac. You can inspect details and reveal relevant locations in Finder.
Do connection and battery events wait for a capture?
No. macOS notifications provide these events between scheduled captures while MacDelta is awake and running. Wi-Fi and network-route changes settle for two seconds, and Bluetooth device changes for five seconds. Short fluctuations are filtered. Low Power Mode records the effective mode, without claiming who changed it.
What permissions do networking and battery history need?
Bluetooth activity needs macOS Bluetooth permission. Wi-Fi link, battery and Low Power Mode observations do not need Full Disk Access or Location permission. The app does not collect Wi-Fi names, IP addresses, browsing history, traffic contents, or saved Bluetooth hardware addresses.
Does it measure internet traffic or track my VPN?
No upload/download totals or VPN-provider tracking are implemented. Network-path availability does not prove internet access or VPN protection. MacDelta records connection transitions, not the contents of your traffic.
Can I use MacDelta on an Intel Mac?
The Intel build costs $9.99 and requires macOS 14 or later. Once checkout opens, you can download it after payment. It has not been verified on physical Intel Macs and may have issues. For help, email support@macdelta.app.
